Maths Warriors | Research
SIMCC Games runs simulations of its games to answer questions about the rules: how fair they are, how long games last, and what a rule change would do.
The studies play thousands of games with the same rules engine as this site. They don't change any rule on their own. Where a study compares options, it sets out the evidence for SIMCC to decide.
Studies
- Dice distributions · What do the six dice, and a whole board of them, actually roll?
- Reachability · Which targets can a set of dice capture with Strength and Mind attacks?
- First-player advantage · Does moving first help, and what would the proposed rule changes do to it?
- Game length and tempo · How long are games, and does an early lead snowball?
- The timeout rule · How often does the clock decide a game, and how do the two timeout rules compare?
- Computer levels · Are the Easy, Medium, Hard and Impossible levels evenly spaced in strength?
- Puzzle bank · Is the practice puzzle bank balanced, free of repeats, and labelled at the right difficulty?
- New puzzle games · Are the four newer SIMCC puzzle games always solvable and deep enough to keep playing?
Each report states its question, method, results and limits, and every chart comes with a CSV of the same numbers.
